BIOGRAPHY
Hamish hails from the lovely English riviera county of Devon. A nice place to grow up! Having started playing the piano fairly young, he coninued learning music in his teens by playing the drums and tuned percussion which he eventually went on to study at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Having always been interested in improvised music, it was at Birmingham where he became more serious about jazz and other world music and played regularly with many Midland based artists.
Since leaving university Hamish worked for a few years onboard Cruise ships, and was lucky enough to travel all over the globe, playing in both the showband and jazz trio as a pianist and drummer. In 2007 he came back to London and has been performing with many artists, at home and aboad in such pristigious venues as Ronnie Scotts, 606 club, Royal Festival hall and UK and european festivals
Some of the artists he has worked with include Taj Mahal, Rufus Reed, The Temptations, The Shirells, Dave Moor, Incognito, Odyssey, Faze Action and Trace Adkins, as well as many other artists in London and the UK, where he is currently living.
At present he is working regularly in his own trio and quartet, playing originals and standard repertoire and in various other London based bands including New York disco legends Odyssey, of such hits as 'native New Yorker', 'Don't Tell Me Tell Her', and the classic version of 'Going Back To My Roots' (CD release in may 2011). They will be headlining the Garden Festival in Croatia this year. Also he is working with female singer song writing sensation Tommy Ludgate (CD release Wall of Words 2008), Salsa band Riamba and greek fusion guitarist Tolis Zavaliaris, as well as house music act Faze Action and Yam Who. On the last thursday of every month Hamish plays keyboards with Tumbaito and Williams Cumberbache. In April 2011 his own recording of original peices was released. He also appears as a solo pianist for many occasions around the U.K, and plays regularly in various hotels in London including a residency at the Ritz. He is currently working in the studio on remix and original work with Yam Who and Robert Strauss among others and has featured on numerous recordings, recently featuring on
